THE STORY
When Rahul first reached out to me, asking if I could photograph his surprise proposal in Tenerife, I could already tell how much he cared about making it a truly memorable experience for his beloved. We brainstormed quite a few location options until we settled on Benijo Beach as the ultimate spot for the proposal—secluded, iconic, dramatic, and so, so, so EPIC. Every second there feels like a scene from a movie.
On the day of the proposal, I arrived early, making sure nothing could get in the way of capturing the beautiful story that was about to unfold. And what happened next was nothing short of magical. At first, photographing them from a distance, without her noticing, he got down on one knee in the shallow water and shared words I’m sure they will keep close to their hearts forever.
It felt like the whole world stopped. The two lovers were so lost in their own little world that, at one point, I wondered whether the tide might carry them away into the ocean. For an outside observer, it was one of those moments that makes you think, “Wow… true love really does exist.”
As I’m writing this, it’s been a few months since this beautiful love story unfolded at Playa Benijo. But looking at the photos again, all the emotions come rushing back. I hope you’ll feel it too.

Is Benijo Beach a good place for a surprise proposal?
Yes! It’s one of the most iconic places in Tenerife for a reason. It’s wild, dramatic and generally far from the crowds making it an ideal location for a proposal. However there is a caveat – as of writing of this post in 2026, the main acess has been closed due to damage from landslides and the current acces requires going down a short dirth path section that is steep and slippery. There are also MANY stairs you need to go down to acess the beach. So in short, it’s not suitable if you have any disabilities and to acess it you need at least some measure of physicall fitness. Also it is 1+ hour drive from all the main resorts and towns and getting there requires a car.
Where is Benijo Beach situated?
Benijo Beach, or ‘Playa Benijo’ as also called in spanish is a beach positioned in the north part of Tenerife island. It is situated in the stunning Anaga Rural Park – a highland of mountains with sharp peaks and deep ravines covered with carpets of laurel trees. It is in my personal opinion – the most beautiful and magical area of the entire island. You can easily make your proposal in Benijo a whole experience – hiking through mossy forests and stoping along some of the many stunning lookouts in the area.
When is the best time for a proposal in Benijo Beach?
Benijo Beach is beautiful throughout the day, but hands down sunrise and sunset are the most scenic times. One thing that is extremely important to pay attention to however are the tide times, as some days the tide is so high that the whole beach is covered with water making it completely unacessible.
