Hannah and Kyle first reached out to me at the end of 2025, looking for a photographer to capture their dream elopement in Madeira. Living in the US, they knew they wanted to travel somewhere that felt special for such an important day, and something about the idea of eloping in Madeira really drew them in. Since neither of us had been to the island before, we spent time researching and brainstorming together, while they trusted my experience to dig deeper into locations and figure out what would work best even from afar. We clicked almost instantly, and I loved how clear they were about what they wanted: a relaxed and intimate day, away from the crowds, where they could slow down, be present with each other, and celebrate their love in a way that felt completely authentic to them.

The idea of eloping — getting married with just the two of you, away from a traditional guest list — can still feel unfamiliar to many people. But at its heart, an elopement is simply about choosing to get married in a way and a place that feels true to you: somewhere peaceful and meaningful, away from the crowds, where you can slow down and be fully present with the person you love. An elopement in Madeira can be the perfect setting for that kind of intimate, intentional experience. And celebrating with your loved ones doesn’t have to be left behind — the big party can always happen later.
THE STORY
We did the research, booked the flights, chose the top locations and headed to Madeira in mid-May 2026. But the island had other plans. You see, although this beautiful gem in the Atlantic has mild and pleasant weather year-round, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have it’s challenges. And for sure – temper. You can start the day with perfect blue skies, but then quickly move through fog, torrential rains and strong winds. And when there, you have no option but to adapt. Thankfully, we had crafted Plan A, B and C in case of any scenario, and really we ended up going for the last option on the list. Seixal beach, Fanal Forest and Ponta do Rosto just had to wait for another time. But in the end, the secluded spot we had just for ourselves in Ponta de São Lourenço provided the perfect conditions for an intimate elopement ceremony that was both easy to get to, but far from the crowds. THE TRAILER
For this elopement, I wanted to make sure the moment was preserved in as many ways as possible, as sometimes photos alone cannot fully convey the emotion of the experience.
