Hannah & Kyle’s Intimte Elopement in Madeira

ELOPEMENTS

Couple eloping in Madeira

Hannah + Kyle

Hannah and Kyle first reached out to me at the end of 2025, looking for a photographer to capture their dream elopement in Madeira. Living in the US, they knew they wanted to travel somewhere that felt special for such an important day, and something about the idea of eloping in Madeira really drew them in. Since neither of us had been to the island before, we spent time researching and brainstorming together, while they trusted my experience to dig deeper into locations and figure out what would work best even from afar. We clicked almost instantly, and I loved how clear they were about what they wanted: a relaxed and intimate day, away from the crowds, where they could slow down, be present with each other, and celebrate their love in a way that felt completely authentic to them.

You will call it madness but I call it love.

The idea of eloping — getting married with just the two of you, away from a traditional guest list — can still feel unfamiliar to many people. But at its heart, an elopement is simply about choosing to get married in a way and a place that feels true to you: somewhere peaceful and meaningful, away from the crowds, where you can slow down and be fully present with the person you love. An elopement in Madeira can be the perfect setting for that kind of intimate, intentional experience. And celebrating with your loved ones doesn’t have to be left behind — the big party can always happen later.

THE STORY

We did the research, booked the flights, chose the top locations and headed to Madeira in mid-May 2026. But the island had other plans. You see, although this beautiful gem in the Atlantic has mild and pleasant weather year-round, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have it’s challenges. And for sure – temper. You can start the day with perfect blue skies, but then quickly move through fog, torrential rains and strong winds. And when there, you have no option but to adapt. Thankfully, we had crafted Plan A, B and C in case of any scenario, and really we ended up going for the last option on the list. Seixal beach, Fanal Forest and Ponta do Rosto just had to wait for another time. But in the end, the secluded spot we had just for ourselves in Ponta de São Lourenço provided the perfect conditions for an intimate elopement ceremony that was both easy to get to, but far from the crowds. Enjoy <3

“The pictures are amazing. We had the best time going through them together!! You captured the moment perfectly”

THE TRAILER

For this elopement, I wanted to make sure the moment was preserved in as many ways as possible, as sometimes photos alone cannot fully convey the emotion of the experience. There are certain moments that deserve to be felt as well as seen, which is why I also offer a Photo + Video hybrid package for elopements in Madeira.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, as it really depends on how you want to spend your day and what you’d like to include. For a two-person elopement, most couples can expect to spend somewhere around €4,000–€8,000 in total, including things like accommodation, photography, rental car, hair and makeup, flowers, cake and other experiences. You can check out my elopement packages for more details on what I offer and what’s included.

Ideally 6 to 12 months in advance, especially if you are planning to elope on a weekend between the months of May to October.

But even if it’s shorter notice, feel free to reach out and ask for my availability. I might still be able to photograph your fun & spontaneous last-minute ceremony in Madeira next month 🙂

Yes! I recently started implementing some candid video coverage with my elopement photography. As a result, as a bonus to your photos, you will receive a short, trailer-style candid compilation video from your elopement day. But keep in mind because I’m a one-woman show and my focus is mainly photography, I can’t offer you a fully comprehensive video coverage like a dedicated videographer would.
You can see an example of such a video from this elopement, a bit further up on this page at the Trailer section.

Honestly — anytime! Madeira has a mild climate throughout the year, so there isn’t necessarily one perfect season. Spring and autumn can be particularly lovely, while summer generally offers more predictable weather. That said, Madeira’s microclimates mean the weather can change dramatically between different parts of the island.

Yes, it is possible for international couples to get legally married in Madeira, although the paperwork and requirements can be more involved depending on your nationality and circumstances. Because of this, many couples choose to complete the legal paperwork in their home country and then have a symbolic elopement ceremony in Madeira instead. It’s a popular option because it gives you complete freedom with your location, timing and style — whether that’s an intimate ceremony overlooking the ocean, exchanging vows in the mountains, or having an adventurous elopement surrounded by Madeira’s incredible landscapes.
