For this proposal, my client wanted to make sure the moment was preserved in as many ways as possible, as he felt that photography alone couldn’t fully convey the emotion of the experience. There are certain moments that deserve to be felt as well as seen, which is why I also offer a Photo + Video hybrid package for proposals and elopements.
THE STORY
N. wanted to surprise his girlfriend with a very special setting for this big moment in their relationship. Since he reached out to me just a few days before they were due to arrive in Tenerife, we immediately started brainstorming ideas. After discussing different locations and the kinds of places they enjoy, one spot quickly stood out as the perfect choice.
Because an epic love deserves an epic backdrop. And there is something truly magical about getting engaged above the clouds, with Mount Teide rising in the distance and the entire island stretching out beneath you. This spot with a view to Teide Volcano feels almost unreal at sunset, and as these two stood there, so deeply in love, the moment felt nothing short of extraordinary.

Is Mount Teide a good place for a surprise proposal?
Absolutely! A Mount Teide proposal is one of the most popular choices in Tenerife for a reason. The volcanic landscapes, endless views and dramatic scenery create a setting that feels completely different from anywhere else on the island.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind, however. Mount Teide sits at a high altitude, temperatures can be much cooler than on the coast. It’s also worth noting that, as of 2026, professional photoshoots within the boundaries of Teide National Park require a permit, so these sessions should be planned well in advance. The good news is that there are many stunning viewpoints just outside the national park, including the location featured in this post, which offer incredible views of Mount Teide without requiring any special permit.
Where is the best spot to get those ‘Above the Clouds’ photos in Tenerife?
The famous sea of clouds can be seen from many viewpoints along the TF-24 road, including Mirador de Chipeque, one of the most popular spots for enjoying this incredible phenomenon. On the right day, you’ll find yourself standing above a blanket of clouds with Mount Teide rising in the distance—a truly magical sight.
That said, the location featured in these photos is actually one of my secret spots. With time I’ve discovered a few lesser-known viewpoints that offer even more spectacular views while staying away from the crowds. To preserve these places and the experience for my couples, I don’t publicly share their exact locations, but I’m always happy to take my clients there during their session.

Yes! I’ve recently started offering a short video add-on for my photography packages and capture both almost simultaneously throughout the session. This allows you to relive not only how the moment looked, but also how it felt.
You’ll receive a short highlight film, usually around 1–2 minutes long, featuring the proposal itself as well as all the emotions and little moments surrounding it. It’s the perfect complement to your photographs and a wonderful way to relive the experience of your proposal or other special moment for years to come.
