Anaga National Park – For the Adventurous

  • Wild, untouched scenery for a unique experience
  • Plenty of secluded spots for privacy
  • Perfect for hiking-loving couples
  • Incredible viewpoints overlooking the ocean

If you’re looking for an adventurous place to elope in Tenerife, Anaga Rural Park is hard to beat. Home to ancient laurel forests, dramatic mountain ridges and lush green valleys, this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve feels like stepping into another world. It’s the perfect choice for couples who dream of an intimate ceremony surrounded by nature.

Whether you’re after an easily accessible viewpoint with breathtaking scenery or are happy to hike to a hidden location where complete seclusion is almost guaranteed, Anaga has something for every couple. I always help my clients choose a spot that matches their vision, fitness level, and sense of adventure.

Top spots include: Playa Benijo, Roque Taborno, Mirador Punta Del Hidalgo & El Draguillo

One of the things that makes Anaga so special is its incredible variety. After exchanging your vows beneath the ancient trees, you can head towards the rugged northern coastline, where towering cliffs, black sand beaches and tropical landscapes create scenery that many people compare it to Hawaii. With countless secluded hiking trails and hidden viewpoints, Anaga is ideal for adventurous couples who don’t mind exploring a little in exchange for some of the most spectacular and private elopement locations in Tenerife.

Pro tip: Plan your ceremony at sunrise or sunset for soft light, fewer people, and an almost mystical vibe. If possible – opt for a work day instead of a weekend to avoid local crowds

El Sauzal – The Best of Tenerife in One Place

  • Panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs, and Mount Teide
  • Beautiful luxury villas perfect for intimate celebrations
  • Easy to access while still feeling peaceful and exclusive
  • Ideal for couples wanting both stunning scenery and a comfortable venue

The coastline of El Sauzal is one of those rare places in Tenerife where you truly get it all in one view. From dramatic Atlantic cliffs and endless ocean horizons to lush green landscapes and, on clear days, the striking silhouette of Mount Teide in the distance, the scenery feels incredibly complete and diverse.

It’s also home to some of the island’s most beautiful luxury accommodations perched right on the cliffs, making it perfect for intimate elopements or small celebrations with your closest friends and family. You can exchange vows overlooking the ocean, surrounded by greenery and volcanic landscapes, and then continue the celebration in a private villa with a front-row seat to the sunset.

Why it’s a great choice:

  • Panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs, and Mount Teide
  • Beautiful luxury villas perfect for intimate celebrations
  • Easy to access while still feeling peaceful and exclusive
  • Ideal for couples wanting both stunning scenery and a comfortable venue

Pro tip: If you’re planning to rent a villa, book one that faces west. You’ll be treated to a spectacular sunset over the ocean, and on clear days you’ll also enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Teide—creating an unforgettable backdrop for both your ceremony and celebration.

Teide National Park – Truly Unique

  • Unique volcanic scenery unlike anywhere else
  • Incredible sunsets above the clouds
  • One of the best stargazing spots in the world
  • Perfect for dramatic, cinematic elopements
  • One of the most dramatic landscapes in Tenerife

If you’re searching for the most iconic place to elope in Tenerife, it doesn’t get much more spectacular than Teide National Park. With its vast volcanic landscapes, rugged lava fields and the imposing silhouette of Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak, this UNESCO World Heritage Site offers some of the most breathtaking scenery on the island. Whether you exchange your vows at sunrise, during golden hour above the clouds, or beneath one of Europe’s clearest night skies, every moment here feels truly unforgettable.

Some of my favourite locations include: Minas de San José, Mirador Roque de Caramujo, and the summit of Mount Teide itself (accessible only via a challenging hike and a limited daily permit Learn more about the permit requirements Here)

Why it’s one of the best places to elope in Tenerife:

  • Unique volcanic scenery unlike anywhere else in Europe
  • Incredible sunrises and sunsets above the clouds
  • World-renowned stargazing opportunities
  • Perfect for adventurous, cinematic elopements

Important: If you’re planning to hire a professional photographer or videographer within Teide National Park, a filming/photography permit is required. As permits can take time to obtain, I recommend planning your elopement several months in advance to ensure everything is approved before your wedding day. If you’re planning on a shorter timeline, there are also many stunning viewpoints just outside the park boundaries that don’t require a permit while still offering incredible views of Mount Teide.

Bonus: Lookout near Chipeque – Above the Clouds ☁️

If you love the idea of eloping above the clouds, the viewpoints near Chipeque along the TF-24 road offer an experience that’s almost heavenly. Watching the sun set over a sea of clouds with Mount Teide in the background is simply unforgettable.

As beautiful as they are, these viewpoints have become very popular at sunset. That’s why it helps to work with a local photographer who knows the area well and can take you to one of the hidden spots in the area, where you can enjoy the same incredible views in complete privacy.

4

Punta Teno – Secluded & Intimate

  • Very quiet and less touristy
  • Stunning coastal views and sunsets
  • Intimate and peaceful atmosphere
  • Perfect for a deeply personal elopement

If complete privacy is what you’re after, Punta Teno is one of the best places to elope in Tenerife. Located on the island’s remote northwestern tip, it offers dramatic coastal scenery, a picturesque lighthouse, and breathtaking views of the iconic Los Gigantes cliffs—but from the opposite side, far away from the crowds of tourists. It’s the perfect choice for couples looking for a quiet, intimate ceremony while enjoying one of Tenerife’s most spectacular coastal landscapes.

Important: Access to Punta Teno is restricted, and private vehicles are not always permitted. Depending on the current regulations, you’ll need to arrive by bus or authorised taxi from Buenavista del Norte. As access rules can change, I recommend checking with the local authorities before planning your elopement to confirm whether the road is open to taxis on your chosen date.

Why it’s a great choice:

  • One of the quietest and least touristy locations in Tenerife
  • Spectacular coastal views and sunsets
  • Peaceful atmosphere for an intimate ceremony
  • A great chance of having the area almost entirely to yourselves

Pro tip: If you take a taxi for sunset, there’s a very good chance you’ll have the entire place completely to yourselves—making it one of the most private elopement spots on the island.

Best Beach Locations to Elope in Tenerife

And last by not least, Tenerife is home to some of the most diverse and dramatic beaches in the Canary Islands, each offering a completely different feel for an elopement ceremony.

  • Playa Benijo – unique, wild, dramatic
  • La Tejita – natural, open, windy
  • Montaña Pelada – minimal, private, quiet
  • Playa de Antequera – wild, untouched, far from everything
Places to elope in Tenerife - Benijo Beach

Playa Benijo is one of the most iconic and photogenic beaches in Tenerife, known for its wild character, dramatic black sand, and powerful rock formations rising from the Atlantic. At sunset, the light here is truly magical, but the waves can be strong and unpredictable, which adds to its raw, untamed beauty.

La Tejita, located in the south of the island, is a wide, natural beach with golden-red tones from Montaña Roja in the background. It has a more open and windy feel, making it perfect for couples who want a relaxed, spacious setting with easy access and beautiful coastal views.

Montaña Pelada is a volcanic crater-like coastline that feels minimal, quiet, and almost lunar in its simplicity. It’s best experienced at sunrise when the light is soft and the area is often completely empty, offering a rare sense of privacy and stillness.

Playa de Antequera is one of the most secluded beaches in Tenerife, accessible only by boat or a long hike through the Anaga coastline. Because of this, it remains untouched and completely private, making it ideal for adventurous couples looking for a truly off-the-grid elopement experience.

Pro tip: Always check tide times before planning your beach elopement, as they significantly affect both the shoreline and accessibility of certain areas. This is especially important for more remote or rocky locations where timing can completely change the available space for your ceremony.
